The Tables in Wonderland Card: What Is It, And Is It Worth It? by Todd Blay
Apart from its unudual name, there is nothing silly about the Tables in Wonderland card. The name might not tell you much, but this card formerly known as the “Disney Dining Experience” has a lot of benefits that you can use.
This card is only available to Disney Annual Passholders and Florida residents. For Florida residents, the card costs $100, while it’s $75 for the Annual Passholders. The card will pay for itself surprisingly quickly. In what way? With the Tables in Wonderland card, you automatically get 20% on all food and beverages at Walt Disney World Resort.
There are very few restrictions to this discount – it will discount appetizers and alcohol, and it is accepted at every Walt Disney World Restaurant. If your table has 10 guests maximum, then you can use this card. Because of the possibility that there are so many being covered by the card, an 18% gratuity is automatically added onto your bill when you use your Tables in Wonderland card – you should be tipping 18% or more, anyway, so this shouldn’t “interfere” with your savings too much.
The Disney Dining Plan vs. Tables in Wonderland
So which is better, the Tables in Wonderland card, or the Disney Dining Plan included in your Magic Your Way Vacation Package? Well, if you are not a Passholder or a Florida Resident, this comparison doesn’t really apply, unless you’re a foodie. If you are a foodie, the Tables in Wonderland Program may be enough to inspire you to become a Disney Annual Passholder.
The Disney Dining Plan is good for 1 Snack, 1 Counter Service Meal, and 1 Table Service meal per day, and does not cover alcohol or appetizers. The Tables in Wonderland Program isn’t for you, if that suits the way you eat. If you often resent not being able to enjoy a wider variety of dining experiences because of your limited Dining Plan, then look into becoming an Annual Passholder, and therein a Tables in Wonderland Card Holder.
A few other ways that the Tables in Wonderland Card is superior to the Disney Dining Plan is that it allows you to be eligible for special dinner events, like the Indiana Jones Dinner. Even the restaurants that don’t accept the Disney Dining Plan honors the Tables in Wonderland card. Lastly, the value of your card increases as you use it, thereby making dining at Walt Disney less stressful on your wallet!
